THE IMPACT
OF THIS WORK
Decisions we make about the built environment impact health.
Too often, city planning efforts are completed in silos. Everyday people are absent from the decision-making table. Sectors that have much to gain and to contribute to creating better cities such as public health, economic development, and others are also not engaged.
Historic and current decisions rooted in racism have produced a reality in which a person’s ZIP code is a better predictor of their health than their genetic code. Together, we can change this reality. By centering equity, expanding decision-making tables, and elevating community voice, we can improve health outcomes.
